Hello, I am Elisabeth and I specialise in

A11y is short for accessibility: the a is the first letter, the y the last – and the 11 in between stands for the eleven letters »ccessibilit«.

I build accessible websites, run workshops and test digital products against WCAG 2.2 – so that as many people as possible can use them.

How can I help?

Depending on the nature and size of the project, I deliver my services as a sole trader or in cooperation with partners and agencies from my network.

Web implementation

I build accessible websites and online shops, or improve the site you already have. You get support from the first idea through design and concept to the finished website. Search engine optimisation included.

How I work

Accessibility audit

As a Certified Web Accessibility Expert I test digital products against international guidelines such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. You get concrete recommendations sorted by urgency.

How an audit works

Workshops

So your team can do accessibility themselves: my workshops are aimed squarely at the different roles in a web project – editorial, front-end, design or strategy.

An accessible website is always a better website.

Together we can make the digital world a little more inclusive!

More conversions through accessibility

When an online shop is not accessible, it loses customers – it just does not notice. A checkout that cannot be finished with a keyboard looks like an ordinary abandoned basket in the statistics. Nobody goes looking for the cause there.

69 %

of disabled people click away as soon as a site gets difficult.

8 %

tell the site owner. The other 92 % buy elsewhere, without a word.

86 %

have paid more to buy on an accessible site rather than cheaper somewhere else.

The figures in detail, with sources

Accessibility keeps customers, it does not cost you them. An accessible online shop encourages exactly that loyalty: a shop with a step in front of the door will not have customers with a pram or a wheelchair – on the web it is no different. The most common faults I find on websites are missing keyboard operability and too little contrast in the places that matter. Once you know that, it is often quite simple to fix.

What does the law say?

Since 28 June 2025 the Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz, BaFG) has applied in Austria, the national implementation of the European Accessibility Act. For many digital B2C offerings, accessibility has become an obligation – with administrative fines of up to 80,000 euro.

But: micro-enterprises providing services only are exempt. And even if you are not covered legally: accessibility is a mark of quality.

About me

I am Elisabeth Zeilinger, a web developer and certified expert in digital accessibility (External link, opens in a new window). At home in Emmersdorf, where the Wachau begins, but I mostly work wherever the laptop happens to be open. I have been building and designing for the web for almost twenty years now – long enough to know what is behind it when a site does not work for everyone.
